Today we'll talk about a great athlete of San Antonio de los Baños, Ronel Cueto Santos. He was born in Ariguanabo on April 28th, 1976 and over time, became the gratest motorist and karting pilot in our country. In 1989 he won his first gold medal in a race competition held in Marianao. It was the beginning of an outstanding career.
Three years later, he achieved the bronze medal in Varadero. His first international competition: ‘’Juan Manuel Fangio’’ Cup of Havana. He took first place at this race, where he had a great contention with national and international pilots. In the event ''NACAM'' Cup, 1995, Venezuela he achieved eighth place in the ‘’Super A’’. Ronel was invited to attend the ''MENTON'' Cup in France. Two ears later, he occupied the highest place on the podium in the categories PISTON PORT AND FORMULA A in ‘’El Salado’’ and in 2000 he was the best of the country in karting.
Ronel was prepared in Havana and ran excellently, with the best times and marks of his team. In this competition Ronel Cueto Santos received the excellent category for driving Renault Formulas, but was never given the real possibility of his presence in a contest of this kind. Our champion also shone at the Olympics of Cuban Sport, the ALBA Games and Metánicas Cups, all premier events within the karting.
His second son preferred to follow his father's footsteps in the world of motorsports, with very good results, which fills with pride the best driver of karting in Cuba. Ronel Cueto Fernandez seems to have the lineage of his father, because in a short time he is the best of the JUNIOR category for two consecutive years thanks to the advices from his Dad, who is happy to know that his child will not let die sports results achieved by him during his excellent career as a pilot of karting and formulas.
