On September 28th, 1960 emerged the largest mass organization in our country, the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR). They were born as a response of the cuban people against terrorist acts unleashed by the US government and organizations as the Pentagon and the CIA. Ariguanabo Radio interviewed Ivan David Hernandez Licor, a young who today joins the CDR.
It is a challenge being a member of this organization. How do you see it today?
I think that it is a difficult task and very self-sacrificing. I join the CDR today, but it was not something new to me, as I have participated in the activities of the block since I was a child. All Cuban youth should know the work of this organization.
From today on, more tasks will be taken on. Do you think that at your age this is possible?
Adolescence is a difficult period, so say my parents; he looked and smiled, but cuban youth went to the countryside to teach in 1959. That shows that the country trusts us, that is why we must ensure to do well. Every cederista task is serious, until today we have met them; both young people and adults. So it will not be different now, as ever, the contribution of young people who start and mine will be necessary.
Which are the reasons for the existence of an organization like this?
My grandfather always says that the ideological war against Cuba is a clear reason for this organization. The cederistas are the base of the country, besides there is solidarity and tranquility in the neighborhoods. Cuba celebrated the 56th anniversary of the CDR, young people like Ivan joined this organization. The words of this boy, who dreams of being a ‘’Camilito’’, were sensible and sincere and filled with pride his family who accompanied us during the interview and will always accompany him on his way through the CDR because today, he is proud of joining this great new home.
