Cuban Tobacco
San Antonio de los Baños, Artemisa, Cuba.- The Socialist State Enterprise must be an example of organization and operation in our island. Changes and issued reformulations of the guidelines of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and the objectives of the Seventh Congress, constitute the work guide of the enterprise ‘’Twisted Tobacco of Havana’’, an ariguanabense institution that is in the forefront of the country.
The diagnostic process in companies, is among the guiding principles of the process of updating the Cuban economic model. According to the successful analysis of Armando Hernandez, Head of organization and communication group of the Enterprise, the institution takes on this challenge since 2000. It was the first company of tobacco system in Cuba that was authorized for the task. Since then the diagnostics take place every two years, a fact that allows correct errors and shortcomings. The current diagnostic process should be completed in the first half of 2017 and will trace the route until 2020.
Implementation and first results
Armando Hernandez states the significance of sustaining the current economic model and its major transformations, so this entity centralized selection and despalillo, emerging the Base Enterprise Unit (UEB) for wrapper preparation. This new center allows more organization and control of decrease, regarding the quality and loss of the wrapper. This loss, enables the production of clandestine tobacco which threatens the value and prestige of the Cuban cigar, because it is sold without having the required quality controls.
Socialist principles and sustainability of the Cuban economic model and its transformations, is another argument that this company corroborates and advocates in their daily work. Compliance with this aspect shows positive results for the conceptualization of the Cuban economic model. Everyone has the opportunity to know their rights and duties as workers of the socialist state organization.
Hernandez defends the important fact that workers know what will happen, what the problem is and what to do to face it. Everyone can give their opinions, views an ideas to contribute to the development of the company.
Defining the context
TABACUBA is the marketable group of the enterprise ‘’Twisted Tobacco of Havana’’ and is now a Superior Management Organization (OSD), which since the 2016 meets a new set of powers and functions that benefit their activity and its subordinated units.
The new practices show much interest in the planned direction of the economy. Currently Snuff Twisted Havana, has the possibility to discuss production plans with the group TABACUBA. Also it is working on the preparation of the administrative staff at all levels to ensure management processes (planning, organization, management and control).
Man first of all
Within social policy, workers of the Enterprise ‘’Twisted Tobacco of Havana’’ generously give five percent of their salary for social security and three percent of foreign currency for health services in the territory, mainly for the Maternity Home of San Antonio de los Baños.
So this important cuban company defends social achievements of our country. A new economic model has the social purpose of producing good tobacco, helping workers and performing maintenance activities. A path that is just beginning and that at first glance shows encouraging results.
