Hurricane
Media constantly refers to the importance of taking preventive measures to cope with natural disasters, especially during the hurricane season in Cuba (from June 1st to Nov. 30th). People should take into account the measures of Civil Defense, responsible for ensuring the welfare of human life and the protection of state resources in exceptional situations.
Our country has always been characterized by avoiding collateral damages to climatological phenomena. We can’t ignore the power of some hurricanes that have been part of history by its devastating effects to the environment and many houses. It was some years ago that Hurricane Charlie took us completely by surprise and there are still many deteriorating houses in San Antonio de los Baños. Hence, the importance of being always ready and alert as this is an active season where storms and tropical depressions are formed.
Protecting houses, workplaces and schools, participating in the ''Meteoro'' exercise and supporting the Civil Defense are ways to ensure the least possible damage.
