Ariguanabo
My town ages. It has gray hair. Its lines are noticed on the facades; its roofs glimpse the ravages of time. There are 222 years of history, culture and underground struggle in favor of the Revolution among keys, tobacco leaves and music.
There are many symbols that identify it. My village has earned a name in the artistic sector, specifically in the graphic humor. It has not been easy to keep the customs, because years go by quickly and habits and lifestyles are transformed. My town ages, but keeps its new essence.... Many people have left our town, however, they miss, visit and remember it. This land was home of woodcutters and herdsmen who came to their margins to recover from their daily work. Here they took beer at ‘’La Taberna del Tío Cabrera’’, rested on its parks next to the church and walked along ‘’La Alameda’’.
Today the reality is different, but ruins, worn walls and streets can’t overshadow all that this Villa means for those who really feel ariguanabense.
