Almeida, Commander of the Revolution, is among the revolutionaries with a relevant role since the struggle against the dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista. He was a active actor at the events of Moncada. With heroism and firm steps he accompanied the triumphant Revolution from 1959 until his death that can not silence his example.
Almeida enriched the work of the cuban revolutionary process. He was given many awards, national and international orders, including the honorable title: ‘’Hero of the Republic of Cuba’’ and the Maximum Order ‘’Máximo Gomez’’. His extraordinary human sensitivity rewarded the talent and his qualities as composer flowed to the musical staff of this writer and poet who left his cuban mark on hits like: ‘’La Lupe’’, ‘’Dame un traguito’’, ‘’Déjala que baile sola’’, songs immortalized by singers and orchestras of Cuba and the world.
