Medicinal Plants
San Antonio de los Baños, Artemisa, Cuba.- The Experimental Station of Medicinal Plants ‘’Doctor Juan Tomas Roig’’, through scientific works, contributes to promote health, thanks to the benefits of medicinal plants. At the station of the Center for Drug Research and Development, closed cycle productions are developed. They grow crops and organically reach the final stage. At this center, everything is biological and no chemical is applied, states Carlos Alberto Rodriguez Ferradá, Director of the experimental station.
Ferradá Rodriguez points out: ‘’At present among the productions, we have: Imefasma, Syrup of Aloe and Orégano, Aqueous Extract Syrup of Aloe, a viscous solution at 50%. The latter product has very good properties, effectively used against gastritis as it also has healing properties’’.
Carlos Alberto says that traditional herbal medicine is used in favor of pharmaceutical development and its products have great demand and acceptance. Explains the Director that currently some productions are stored for lack of transport. Artemisa’s pharmacies do not have these productions. Currently, they are working to open new contracts with Havana Distributor Enterprise.
Adds the specialist that at the station, homeopathic drops such as pasiflora, caléndula and manzanilla are made; as well as some tinctures. The group integrated by researchers, specialists, technicians and farm workers are involved in research programs for obtaining various productions, with the aim of promoting health and contributing to scientific work in the country.
