San Antonio de los Baños, Artemisa, Cuba.- The Cuban Women Federation (FMC) in this town celebrated the 56th anniversary of the organization with activities at the community. The Orientation House for Women and Family supports women in order to insert them into the social and working life and promotes the role of them in any sphere. Belkis Rodríguez Hernandez, Secretary of the FMC in the territory provides details of the work of this organization in this municipality.
What is the role of the House of Orientation for Women and Family in Ariguanabo?
The House helps to strengthen the actions of the organization. It is visited not only by women but also by youth groups. In accordance with their needs and problems, group or individual orientation programs are developed.
What is your opinion about the ariguanabense institution?
It especially guides, proposes and offers alternatives to achieve the recognition of women in our society. We contribute to solve conflicts that not only frame women but the couple, the family and society as a whole.
In 2016, which are the activities carried out by the House?
We have training courses in order to guide and train those interested people. Besides, active agreements with Public Health, Education, Prosecution Office and others who join the group of specialists. For example, the 2016-2017 school year will begin on September 5th; therefore we will train representatives of the FMC in Parents Councils at each school, also impart topics of interest according to the needs and requirements of the school and social environment through parents schools.
During the summer, what was the participation of the House?
Of course, the students of the training course (hairdressers, barbers and artisans) were involved in the main activity. For example, the activities in honor of Fidel’s birthday and the 56th anniversary of the organization in which women showed their activism and creative sense within the commemorative activities.
At present, we project the development and improvement of social workers with topics of interest to respond to the interests of women in the social context.
