San Antonio de los Baños, Artemisa, Cuba.- This August 14th, the Grandparents’ House of San Antonio de los Baños is 35 years of created and it is the first of its kind in Cuba. Eleven workers take care of the grandparents. According to Leticia Alvarez, one of the workers of the center, grandparents feel like in family.
In the institution they perform manual activities and practice physical exercises like Tai chi to keep the mind busy and good health.
In honor of Fidel’s birthday and the anniversary of the Grandparents’ House, the old adults are participating in the activities developed by the Provincial Center of Visual Arts ‘’Eduardo Abela’’. They made crafts and enjoy good music with artists like the young Ariguanabense, Yoe Yoel.
It was inaugurated an exhibition entitled ‘’Fidel’’, consisting of photos of the Commander in Chief, allegorical books and recited a poem entitled ‘’A Fidel’’, written by grandfather Arsenio Ortega Marichal.
