Ariguanabense librarian participates in the IFLAI Conference

maricela corvoSan Antonio de los Baños, Artemisa, Cuba.- The ariguanabense researcher Maricela Corvo, General Secretary of the Municipal Bureau of Culture Union in San Antonio de los Baños and President of the Artemisa Subsidiary of the Cuban Association of Librarians (CAL), , will represent Artemisa province and Cuba in the 82nd Conference of the International Federation of Librarian Asociations and Institutions (IFLAI), to be held from August, 13th to 19th in Ohio, United States.

She will show the work of the Library for the quality of life of elderly people. Through different activities such as discussions, lectures and other proposals, this group is incorporated in the social life and thus contribute to their physical and mental health. This is a difficult but beautiful stage of life, said the librarian.

Maricela has participated in other international meetings: the Event of the American Librarian Association (ALA) in Toronto, Canada, 2003; Argentina, 2004; South Korea, 2006; Canada, 2008; Sweden, 2010; Puerto Rico, 2011 and France, 2014.

The program allows to know the technical and scientific advances on this theme. Current issues, initiatives of libraries related to service efficiency and the use of internet and computer are discussed. Participants also outlined new strategies for heritage conservation, the application of new research methods, and teaching people with impaired sight.
