FARMERSan Antonio de los Baños, Artemisa, Cuba.- The cooperative and peasant movement in this town is committed to produce food for the people to overcome the damages caused to agriculture by climate disruption and to contribute to the import substitution.
Various peasant and cooperatives entities face the characteristics of an atypical winter campaign continue preparing the soil, planting and attention to short cycle crops, says Kestey Ortega, member of the Municipal Bureau of the National Small Farmers Association ANAP.
Kestey added that they have a premise: to sow especially short-cycle crops, including vegetables, sweet potatoes, beans, sorghum and sweet corn in order to maximize available resources and ensure yields similar to the previous period.
The member of the Bureau of ANAP stated that due to the effects of ‘’El Niño’’ phenomenon, in our country farmer and cooperative sectors redouble efforts to deliver food products to the population.
