The protagonist of this chronicle is happy, full of vigor, beauty and freshness at 39. It was born in 1977 and the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz was present at its birth. Its arrival at Yurumí Valley was needed, the impressive Stadium ‘’Victoria de Girón’’ which can accommodate 25,000 spectators. It witnessed the titles of ''Henequeneros'' and ''Citricultores'', and now expects a crown of ‘’Red Crocodiles" who inspires love in baseball fans in Matanzas. Stars like Jorge Luis Valdes, Sánchez brothers, Juan Manrique, José Estrada, Lázaro Contreras and Julio Germán Fernández shone there with home runs, strikeouts, spectacular fildeos, bunts and stolen bases.
This stadium has the honor of being a protagonist of historic baseball events in Cuba: the first game with aluminum bat, the first television transmission in color, the Intercontinental Baseball Cup in 2002, the bilateral match Cuba-United States in 2014 and the visit of players and managers of the MLB in December 2015.
