Those who had the privilege of meeting the National Radio Award, Angel Eduardo Rosillo Heredia, describe him optimistic, cheerful and full of simplicity. He had a unique style in his radio programs due to his energy, conversational tone and exceptional voice. He left his mark on Progreso Radio: " Popular Discotheque"; " Yesterday Discotheque "; "A Sunday with Rosillo" and ``Afterdinner Happiness``, one of the oldest and successful programs of radio in Cuba.
Angel Eduardo Rosillo Heredia, was born on February 20th, 1929 in Songo La Maya, Santiago de Cuba. He was 20 years old when he communicated his first words through the microphones of the radio station in his hometown. He was an announcer in CMKT of Las Tunas, in CMKC and CMKR of Santiago de Cuba. He retired in June 2013, during a special program, a ``A Sunday with Rosillo``.
He arrived at Havana in January 1958 as a result of a polítical persecution. He went from radio stations to advertisements in which he recorded sales promotions. When the Revolution triumphed, Eduardo Rosillo offered messages to drivers and pedestrians about traffic code through a loudspeaker. Then, he went to radio station CMQ where Rosillo offered advices on road safety until he replaced the announcer of the program. Afterward the national radio relied on his professionalism. He conquered the national media and worked for more than a year in Habana Cuba Radio. In 1963, he entered the houses of the Cuban public with the phrase: Progress Radio, ``The wave of happiness``!.
Eduardo Rosillo fervently defended the Cuban music. He died in Havana on January 3rd, 2015. He lived his last years in San Antonio de los Baños. Villagers are honored to have hosted this famous announcer, who deserved the distinctions `` Merit Artist of the Radio``, ``Réplica of Máximo Gómez’ Machete``, the Golden Microphone of Cali Fair`` and ``Alejo Carpentier Medal``, in addition to the ``Excellence Diploma of Music Figure`` and the ``National Culture Distinction``.
The voice of Eduardo Rosillo Heredia, a speech professional and defender of the Cuban popular music, no doubt, will be remembered by those who heard this famous phrase him with his unique style: "Here, Progress Radio, presenting, Afterdinner Happiness``.
