DRUGSSan Antonio de los Baños, Artemisa, Cuba.- The Community Mental Health Center of the town contributes to eradicate drug use. Alcoholism and smoking have the highest rate with a large sum of drug consumers in the municipality. Ages are from 25 to 59 and male sex is predominant.
The center has a program of addictions with training health professionals. They also carry out promotional activities in schools for education on the subject. Meanwhile, the Center works together with Women and the Family Direction House in order to incorporate those affected.
Patients are attended by psychotherapy groups once a week and include natural and traditional medicine as a method of rehabilitation. Another alternative is to use acupressure, floral drops and relaxation exercises.
According to experts, drug use starts at an early age and the result is a social degradation of those who consume it.
