San Antonio de los Baños excels at urban, suburban and family agriculture

AGRICULTURE San Antonio de los Baños, Artemisa, Cuba.- With 147 points, this town was placed in the 3^rd place at the provincial level, after the 72^th route of the National Group of Urban, Suburban and Family Agriculture. This visit assessed among other aspects, farms of suburban agriculture, as well as semi-protected cultivation areas.

Six categories of national excellence were rectified, including the Ornamental Plants Nursery of Fidel Muñoz, the ´´Lauzán´´ Farm of Yuniel Gonzalez Paneque, the organopónico ´´Three brothers´´ and Ariguanabo’s Marti Forest.

As reported by Eduviges Millares, Director of the urban farm, dual national excellence was given to Minindustria ´´La Cubana´´ and the triple crown to Intensive Nursery of the Agricultural Production Cooperative ´´Augusto Cesar Sandino´´.

As usual, the Expoferia of agricultural products and a conference about bioproducts dedicated to producers of cooperatives, yards and plots were carried out. They found insufficient supply of vegetables to ´´Semillitas del 2000´´ Kindergaten, one of the most importat centers of San Antonio de los Baños. Measures to improve the supply were taken and they will reassess this task in the next visit on May.
