BARRIERSSan Antonio de los Baños, Artemisa, Cuba.- The Directorate of Physical Planning in this town contributes with the process of territorial arrengement and confronting the urban illegalities against architectural barriers. In our society there are strict urban regulations in particular regarding the access of all people to services and public institutions, states Yunisleidis Alvarez, Head of State Control in the Physical Planning Department.
She added that among the most common violations in the territory are the violation of the technical requirements for the construction of public facilities for disabled, pregnant women, children and elderly, location of stairs or ladder steps, poles for telephone or electricity services; obstacles that limit or impede access to some areas for people with physical or motor disabilities .
Yunisleidis says that the control of inspectors in the implementation and monitoring of work objects ensures access of the law, which includes fines to offenders and the prohibition to continue the constructive actions.
