San Antonio de los Baños, Artemisa, Cuba.- The Municipal Health Bureau carried out preventive actions from inquiries related to HIV-AIDS and risk factors in vulnerable sectors. Yenifer Alonso Aguiar, Health and Disease Prevention Promoter of ´´Hipólito Pazos´´ Polyclinic, is a member of the multidisciplinary team which coordinates the national program for prevention of HIV-AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) in the east urban people's council.
This promoter states that through surveys they identify what people know about these diseases, focusing on vulnerable groups. She added that the successful implementation of each working tool is valid and effective in the investigation, allowing to reach student and labor centers, mainly youth and adolescents, pregnant women, taking into account that we are all people at risk.
She states that health promoters of each center provide advice and make exchanges of experience, deliver printed material with updated information and educational message pamphlets on the epidemiological situation in the territory. Yenifer insists that STI consultations have a great impact. They achieve good results and evacuate the questions and doubts in favor of suggesting healthier life styles and the use of condoms to avoid risk relations.
