In a single room of the house number 3913, located in the central park in San Antonio de los Baños, José Ignacio Pérez Martínez lived, known as Cuinco.
He was accompanied by the fame of single dweller, a solidarity moral man, sensitive, was always between brushes, ladders, paintings and huge walls waiting, what best he could do: paint. For Cuinco the greatest man's treasure lay in the nobility of spirit.
He was hidden behind the appearance of a common man without history but the miracle happened. His friends encouraged his imaginary fantasies and ceased to be one more to become important among the Ariguanabo residents -also known as Villa of Humor.
Cuinco clung to these stories as Juan Candela did it-emblematic of Onelio Jorge Cardoso, who said: We have to believe in something even if it is nice. With nothing or almost nothing, he found meaning to his life at his 72 years old, enjoyed being alive up to 76. Lonely Man, clung to time through other people's stories, replaced by the company of uprooting villagers who gathered in the park and sought his company, his heart filled idealized love for the star of the Brazilian novel Doña Bella and his good friend Don José had sent him gifts from La Tojosa farm.
A history of José Ignacio Pérez Martínez, Cuinco, chapters may be lacking, however, in the epilogue is the essence of a very poor man, very humble, with thirst and hunger of mankind but more importantly, at the end of the road; left us a lesson: the optimism of not being overcome by adversity.
As architects of the property in favor of human enhancement, friends and ordinary people, wove stories, nested dreams and fueled hopes that displaced loneliness, sadness, the abyss, desolation and heartbreak. When he died August 20, 1990, the people accompanied him and among the first, those who were responsible for Cuinco said, I can die, I'm a happy man.
Cuinco's life is an extraordinary story, similarity between reality and fiction. The Ariguanabo still remember 23 years after his death, his stories are repeated from generation to generation by having the greatness of being people people.
