San Antonio de los Baños, Artemisa, Cuba-The Provincial Branch of the Cuban Association of Agricultural and Forestry Technicians (ACTAF) operates in the territory in defense of the optimal use of natural resources, prioritization of food production, conservation the the fertility land and the environment conservation, all in a balanced and sustainable way.
Luis Placido Ortega Izquierdo, ACTAF president in Artemisa province states that the training of the 77 members of the based organizations that bring together more than 900 partners, further including the institutions, projects for the technicians work in the country's food development, particularly the development of suburban agriculture, the state of the agro-ecology and agricultural sustainability in the municipality.
Placido Ortega insists that achieve stability in the directions, enhance training programs designed for the Ministry of Agriculture and promote the functioning of the circles of interest on ecology and environment to foster a greater culture as such, are challenges that assumes the organization in Artemisa.
In the 11 municipalities the role of technicians and professionals in the process of implementing the Guidelines of the Economic and Social Policy of the Party and the Revolution, approved in the sixth party congress, is the starting point for updating strategies and collected in compliance with the statutes and regulations of the association in order to ensure import substitution, the economy and most importantly feeding the people.
