San Antonio de los Baños, Artemisa, Cuba-The need to help improve community hygiene for their direct relevance to the population health, is the main claim of the health authorities at the increase of acute diarrheal diseases in the territory.
Dr. Roberto Fernandez Cordobés, the city's director of Public Health, reiterated the need to ensure that no contamination of the water table to the final disposal of solid waste, unconscious action that people continue to make on the banks of Ariguanabo River or illegal microdumping in different points of the town.
Fernández Cordobés called the villagers to understand that, not only rain and poor conditions of the old distribution networks for drinking water, affecting the quality of the precious liquid, and stressed that any intelligent act to improve the circumstances can always save thousands of life.
The public health representative in the territory recalled that through contaminated water arising contagion of most digestive transmitted diseases such as hepatitis and acute diarrheal diseases, so that preventive measures should be strictly enforced.
