San Antonio de los Baños, Artemisa, Cuba and our local authorities are calling on motorists and pedestrians to reduce the accident rate.
Pedro Juviel Fernández, vice president of the Municipal Council Defense, said that the causes of this high rate does not include attention to the vehicle drivers, some drivers consume alcohol, improper overtaking, the infringement on the edge of the speed, which must be no more than 40 kilometers in urban areas and violations committed by some pedicab drivers.
San Antonio de los Baños is one of the territories of the province of Artemis, which stands out for its high accident rate.
Juviel Fernández, explained that so far have occurred in this town 19 traffic accidents resulting in a death and 10 injured. Similarly he said, that despite the placement of signs at major access roads to the town and the town center, some indiscipline residents perpetrated and remove or damage these signs, which are intended to indicate to pedestrians and drivers safe on the road pathway. This situation frequently occurs in the western city council.
The executive added that people who lead these indiscipline also have a great deal of responsibility when an accident occurs.
