Baliño, follower of Martí's ideas

Carlos Baliño was born February 13th, 1848 in Havana. From his youth embraced socialist ideas, but not waste time with other conspirators and participated in countless independence revolution demonstrations.

Baliño was faithful follower of Martí´s ideas and the study of Marxism-Leninism reaffirmed his
revolutionary projection of his ideology which the colonial authorities tightened vigilance against his family and forced to emigrate to New York.

He
tirelessly defended the rights of the working class, who repeatedly urged them to participate in numerous strike events. He signed with José Martí in 1892 the foundations of the Cuban Revolutionary Party.

During the War of 95 Baliño continues his
independentist work and after the war returns to Cuba, militarily occupied by Yankee imperialism.

From then became popular among workers and peasants the Marxism-Leninism ideas, published articles in magazines and newspapers and was convinced that only the anti-imperialist struggle would lead to the final liberation of Cuba.

In 1903 creates the Socialist Propaganda Club and in 1905 the Socialist Workers Party. Julio Antonio Mella considers him as his master and founded together along with other
revolutionaries leading of the time on August 16th1925, the first Marxist-Leninist Party of Cuba.

In December 1925 was indicted with Mella, for "terrorist". Months later, on June 18th, 1926, died in Havana after a long life of struggle for socialism.

Regarding this compatriot Marti said: "A Cuban that suffer, with beautiful soul, by the sorrows of humanity, and could only sin by the impatience to redeem them ..."
