The implementation of the 3rd Educational Improvement Process of the National Education System advances in San Antonio de los Baños, said the Deputy Director of Education Directorate, Laura Cobas Carnet, in an interview with the press.
Cobas Carnet referred to the main transformations proposed by educational levels: the designation of Pre-school Education as Early Childhood and, among other achievements, the essential role of the family. Primary Education: it is organized in three cycles, in correspondence with the moments of the development. For secondary education, the updating of the contents, the disaggregation of the Natural Sciences in Biology, Geography and Physics for the 7th grade and the strengthening of vocational training are presented. Pre-university Education: the strengthening of scientific research (social, cultural, technical and productive projects), the reduction of TV time and the preparation for access to Higher Education are established. Technical and Professional Education: it will open different specialties in correspondence with the territories' demands and will group the contents based on the students' needs, emphasizing practical teaching. Special Education: it will apply specific curricula, according to the special educational needs of its students, and will work for a greater connection with Technical and Professional Education, in order to ensure the employment of its graduates, says Cobas Carnet.
According to Laura Cobas, the actions of the 3rd Educational Improvement Process began experimentally in San Antonio de los Baños last year (2018-2019), in selected centers of the territory. He also explained that the common curriculum, which governs the educational system and teaching, is now accompanied by the so-called institutional curriculum formed by the educational center based on the criteria of students, teachers and the community; aimed at addressing diversity and differences in learning. That is why, each school will be similar to the environment where it is located.
When mentioning some achievements of the Educational Improvement Process in San Antonio de los Baños, he affirmed that the new work forms promote the participation of other organizations and of the group of parents, under the direction of the School Council. He insisted on the need to seek greater correspondence between methodological work and the quality of class and learning.
