Rafael Trejo González was born on September 9, 1910 in San Antonio de los Baños. In 1919 the family moved to the neighborhood of La Víbora in Havana. Felo, as he was called by his parents, spent long periods studying; He was a good reader, very sensitive, intelligent and understanding speaker.
He enrolled in the Law Degree at the University of Havana in 1927, where he met Raúl Roa. From that same day, a great friendship Felo emerged between them, then he confessed:
"I am going to enroll in Public Law and Civil Law. I believe that I have selected the career in correspondence with my vocation and temperament. For several nights I have been dreaming of the stage, but do not believe that my aspiration is to become rich at the expense of others. ideal is to be able to defend the poor and the persecuted one day. My robe will always be at the service of justice. Also, I aspire to be useful to Cuba. I am willing to sacrifice everything to see the country as Marti wanted. "
In the 1930 university elections, Rafael Trejo was elected vice president of the Association of Students of the Law School. From there he conspires clandestinely against the tyrant Machado. On September 30 of that same year, a demonstration took place in Alfaro Park, to march to the Presidential Palace.
The demonstration, under the stairs, and the police raged violently against it. Felo collapsed dripping blood on the pavement. He was transferred to the Emergency Hospital and underwent a risky surgery, which he did not survive.
On the day of his death, Rafael Trejo grabbed his straw hat, painted aluminum (his support for the Hatters' Strike), and placed the sheet corresponding to that day torn from a large almanac that hung on the wall. And he said:
"I'm going to put you here, because you, September 30, are going to enter the history of Cuba."
This was predicted by the young Rafael Trejo, who entered that day in history as an untamed example of the fight against the tyranny of Machado.
