Schools that breathe health

480x203-images-asftj74.gif San Antonio de los Baños is one of the territories of the province of Artemisa to which greater attention is given, due to the incidence of the Aedes aegypti mosquito in human health.

Weather conditions, as well as other factors that contribute to the proliferation of the Aedes aegypti mosquito, force the Public Health Sector authorities and the population in San Antonio de los Baños to intensify the measures for vector control. Some of the main actions are undertaken in the educational centers of the municipality. Students, teachers and other workers intensify sanitation days.

Msc. Cruselda Estrada Guerra, Health Education and Promotion Specialist in Ariguanabo, explained that dengue is not the only disease caused by mosquito bites. "Other diseases could arise, therefore, in case of any symptoms of fever or rash, people should go to the doctor immediately to be diagnosed."

“All educational centers have a Health Group. Its members are responsible for complying with hygienic and sanitary measures, for promoting a healthy environment and for ensuring the non-spread of Aedes aegypti. In addition, they join the family members  because they are also part of the school, ”added Estrada Guerra.

The mobilization of students to contribute to vector control should be one of the measures to be implemented again. Adopting actions such as autofocal by the inhabitants of the home, conducting public hearings on the danger of the vector and the most effective ways to combat it, will make this task decisive.
